Girl power has never gone away at Butlins, where you can witness some of music's most respected songstresses setting the dancefloors on fire.
Alison LimerickBig-voiced Alison began her music career during the mid-80s, singing backing vocals for bands such as The Style Council. She made her solo debut in 1994 with dance producers David Morales and Frankie Knuckles and had enormous success with her 1991 anthem Where Love Lives, which hit the top 10 when it was remixed in 1994. Alison released the 1996 remix collection Club Classics and returned a year later with Put Your Faith In Me. Catch her raising the roof with her club classics at 90s Reloaded.
Angie BrownSouth London girl Angie was the featured vocalist on Bizarre Inc's 1992 hit I'm Gonna Get You. Since then she's worked with music's elite, from The Stereophonics, Fat Boy Slim, Boy George and Kate Bush to The Rolling Stones, Mark Morrison (on Return Of The Mack) and Lisa Stansfield. As well as working on new material, she performs Angie Brown Late Night In Concert at Disco Inferno, hosted by all three Butlins resorts. Read our interview with the Disco Diva.
RozallaThere can't be a clubber on earth who hasn't danced to 'Queen of Rave' Rozalla's 1991 signature song, Everybody's Free (To Feel Good). Hot on the heels of this enormous success, her debut album went silver in the UK and gave her another three international hit singles - Are You Ready To Fly, Faith and Love Breakdown. After touring with Michael Jackson on his Dangerous tour, she released the album Look No Further, including the Top 40 hits I Love Music and This Time I Found Love. She recently released her Best Of collection and is currently working on new material. www.rozalla.com
Gwen DickeyHands up who can't sing along to disco anthem Car Wash? This funk favourite is known to a whole new generation thanks to Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot. But nothing comes close to the 1976 original by Gwen Dickey and Rose Royce. Gwen had her first solo chart success in 1994 with Chaka Khan's Ain't Nobody. In 1998 she teamed up with rap artist Jay-Z for a fresh take on Wishing On A Star, which gave her a top 10 hit. Since then she's performed at concerts worldwide, including a set at Glastonbury Festival before a 250,000-strong crowd. A Butlins regular, she tours with her band Gwen Dickey's Rose Royce and still has that old disco magic.
Anita Doth and 2 UnlimitedRemember the catchy lyrics: 'No no, no no no no, no no...' Well, you get the picture. No Limits was the enormous club anthem by 2 Unlimited - the techno duo Ray Slijngaard and Anita Doth. After five years of massive success worldwide, the band split in 1996 having sold more than 18 million records. Anita went on to work as a radio and TV presenter, before forming the Divas of Dance trio in 2002, who performed dance classics. She also tours as 2 Unlimited and fills the Butlins floors at 90s Reloaded. www.anitadoth.com
